“SEIKILOS EPITAPH”

Initially,  this   setting stays  to the original ancient Greek consept of choral singing ( separated Male and Female choirs ) .Gradually it moves on incorporating mixed voices,  Eterophony ,Modality, Tonality , Key Change  and  Modern Harmony . (The song was  arranged in different than the original key )

The Seikilos epitaph is a Hellenistic Ionic song in Phrygian octave species and the oldest surviving example of a complete musical composition, including musical notation, from anywhere in the world. The song, the melody of which is recorded, alongside its lyrics, in the ancient Greek musical notation, was found engraved on a tombstone, a stele, near Aidin, Turkey (not far from Ephesus). While older music with notation exists (for example the Hurrian songs), all of it is in fragments; the Seikilos epitaph is unique in that it is a complete, though short, composition
